Sedation Dentistry in Austin, TX
Sedation Dentistry
For our patients comfort, our office offers different sedation methods before receiving dental treatment. Sedation dentistry is a great option for those patients who have high anxiety or difficulty during dental treatment.
At Brushy Creek Dentistry, we believe that a dental office doesn’t have to be a scary place! We have gone to great lengths to ensure that our office is comfortable and inviting.

Nitrous Oxide
One of the ways we are able to make your treatment more pleasant is the use of Nitrous Oxide, also known as “laughing gas”. It is used in dental procedures to reduce anxiety and fear in dental patients. We have found that the easily reversible effects of this mild sedative are highly effective, even in our more fearful patients.
Your dentist may offer Nitrous Oxide to help make you more comfortable during certain procedures. It is not intended to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any questions or requests the dentist may have. Your dentist will ask you to breathe normally through your nose, and within a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide.
You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs. Some people say their arms and legs feel heavy. Ultimately, you should feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed.
We want your experience to be a positive part of your new dental routine. Nitrous is one way that we can help ensure that you will feel safe and comfortable in our office. Read more about what the American Dental Association says about Nitrous Oxide in dentistry on MouthHealthy.org:
Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax.
Oral Sedation
We understand that dental treatment procedures can be daunting, and that many people don’t “like coming to the dentist.” A great number of people do not ever visit the dentist because of these fears. At Brushy Creek Dentistry, we believe that it doesn’t need to be this way.
Don’t let a fear of the dentist keep you from getting the treatment that you need. Dr. Johnson and Dr. Duffin have undergone additional training and certification to be able to administer an oral sedative that can help you get through your dental treatment without all of the fear and anxiety that would normally be associated with these procedures. Ask our dentists if Sedation Dentistry is right for your treatment.
