Teeth Removal

If your tooth has become too decayed to restore, has become infected, fractured or experienced trauma, Dr. Hamamcy may recommend that it be removed. Dr. Hamamcy will always try to recommend a course of treatment designed to save an infected or decayed tooth if it can be restored. This is because your natural tooth is always going to be preferable over a dental replacement such as a bridge, denture or implant. The doctor will remove the tooth if it is severely damaged and cannot be saved. Fortunately, this does not need to be a painful experience. Dr. Hamamcy and her team work diligently to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. We offer nitrous oxide and several sedation options to help make this experience much more pleasant.

Frenectomy

Thick gums can affect the position of the teeth as they develop and continue to cause potential issues later in life. One of the most common conditions related to this tissue is a space created by a thick piece of gum tissue lying between the upper front teeth known as the “frenum.” The procedure used to remove this tissue is known as a “frenectomy.”

The frenum connects the inside of the upper lip to the gum tissue between the roots of the upper front teeth. In some cases this tissue will continue between the front teeth and appear to push them apart creating a space. In most cases however, the frenum was present when the permanent incisors came into the mouth forcing them to come in spread apart. Not only can this tissue prevent the front teeth from coming into the mouth next to each other, it can also push them apart after orthodontic treatment. Dr. Hamamcy will perform a frenectomy to prevent this from happening.
